I just finished putting together an Executive Summary for the book, Brand Leadership by David A. Aaker and Erich Joachimsthaler. It's pretty long, so I will not post it here. If you are interested in it, drop me a line and I will gladly share it with you. In the meantime, get yourself a copy of pick it up in your nearest library (though it's a keeper!)

Tonight I've been talking about scams on eBay with my good friend Igor from Spain (we came to LA to spend the weekend with him, his wife and their beautiful Zoe). This is a good example of a HUGE scam!
Sale price: $999.99 for a Son VAIO P4, 2.6 GHz, 60 GB (HD), 512 MB of RAM, cd/DVD-RW, Radeon 9000 video card with 64 MB... DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!

I am a child of the eighties. Though I was born in 1972, I gained full awareness of the world and the music that went with it during the early eighties, and as such I was exposed to the work of Eurythmics, the band that projected Annie Lennox to stardom with hits like "Sweet Dreams" and "Here comes the rain again". When she came forward with her first solo effort, "Diva", I was fascinated by it. While still a pop work, it retained a unique quality that made that work (just like this one) stand out from the rest of the musical "noise" going on. As such, songs like "Why" and "Walking on broken glass" still retain to this day the same appeal they had to offer 11 years ago.
In 2003, finally Lennox comes back with an impeccable production that is once again timeless, promising to be totally compatible with our kids' preferences 20 and 30 years from now. In 'Bare' Annie Lennox exposes her musical soul with a set of carefully picked tunes that will get you hooked on the album for days at a time. As for my favorites, the opening theme, "A thousand beautiful things" prepares the listener for what's to come; "Pavement Cracks", following immediately, has an intro that brings an instant flavor of the 1996 hit by Springsteen, "Secret Garden" followed by a very subtle euro-techno feel that will make your day be worth a million bucks. Beautifully framed by several other outstanding songs, comes the very Eurythmics-sounding "Wonderful" where she showcases her entire vocal range and her unique blend of choirs. Finally, toward the end of the album, lies one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in quite a while: "The Saddest Song I've Got": if you aren't moved by this one, you don't have a soul.
Overall, it's already one of 2003's best albums so far, and one of my all-time favorites. Haven't heard anything this good since Massive Attack's and Tori Amos' most recent works, though they obviously differ a lot in their styles. This one belongs in your collection, if you're serious about music at all.
