Gabriel to launch musicians' union:
A courageous voice, calling "bread, bread; and wine, wine" in the musical world. It oughta have been Peter...

LOTR Nominated for a bunch of Oscars!
Specially, Best Picture: though "Mystic River" and "Lost in Translation" could turn into tough contenders.

For sure (IMO):
-Special Effecs
-Makeup
-Costume
-Sound Mixing
-Adapted Screenplay
and DIrector.

There's anothe movie (City of God) that I've heard great things about: the "Brazillian Pulp Fiction" a friend of mine called it... it's up for a few Oscars too.

#106 in Amazon

Today, after almost a month sitting at spot #107 among Amazon.com's Top Reviewers... I moved up a notch, to #106. :|

I seriously don't know whether to laugh in joy or to cry out loud. I mean, this review writing "business" takes time... granted that I do it because I love it, but it does take some time. Now, I can't complaint, to be honest: for instance, it's allowed me to get to know some great people over e-mail, and the ocasional complimentary copies of stuff, as in the case of this week, when someone from the record label of Jacqui Naylor is sending me a copy of her latest album along with a press kit, because she liked my review about Norah Jones' debut album! How's that? I guess those things make up for the up and down of the rankings, but I admit: I am very much looking forward to that Top 100 ranking, after 4 years of writing reviews in Amazon! :)

Will you join me and check out my reviews to see if there's any that you'd like to vote for? Thanks!

RIAA embarks on new round of piracy suits
The empire strikes back, which is to say that this nonsense is far from bound to end this year. It's only going to get worse. Interesting the view from the outside... in a recent trip abroad, I saw friends and family downloading music left and right and the idea of a lawsuit from the RIAA is obviously so foreign and funny to them, that it barely crosses their mind. In fact, they are more mindful of the files they download to avoid accidentally downloading a virus!

House of Rorro

HouSE oF RoRRo
Welcome to the world of blogging, my friend. I was VERY happy to see your spanking new blog. Indeed you are some alternate, thin, Venezuelan version of Roger Ebert.

I recommend anyone who considers him or herself to be a serious movie fan (music fan or book fan, for the matter, as well) to check out Rorro's blog periodically. You're bound to find some pretty amazing stuff. I have yet to read something lame by this dude.

Once more, bienvenido! ;)
