Craigslist: Faster and better than eBay
In spite of how some sick people have used it for playing pranks on others, I found Craigslist to do an incredible job for me this weekend.
I wanted to get rid of my good old scuba diving gear (hadn't used it in too long), so I decided to give Craigslist a shot, since I'd only heard good things about it and I wasn't in the mood for posting 10+ items on eBay to make $100 total.
I found the experience to be super-easy, but even more important: within ten minutes (I am not joking) of posting, I had received 2 e-mails inquiring about the gear and within 12 hours I had at least 10 people interested. Last night, someone came over and took all the gear, so it took me less than 24 hours between the moment I posted and the moment all the gear left my place: not bad, if you ask me.
The look-and-feel of the site is very simple (reminding of the early days of the web) yet effective, protecting the identity of the person posting and providing quite a few spam-prevention mechanisms. So, I am confessed admirer of this service and will definitely be using it again.
Ah! Did I mention it was FREE to sell my gear on Craigslist? Well, it was.
