Tu mejor ereccion: Your best erection

The Two Chinese Boys

Chances are you have seen these guys. On their blog, they seem like two ordinary Chinese roommates, and they are. But if you dig deeper, you'll find out they are the amateur stars of some of the funny pretend-singing web videos circulating the web these days.

The first video I saw of them had them singing the Backstreet Boys' "Tell Me Why". it cracked me up. They put in all this energy and emotion into the "performance" while there's this other immovable kid in the background (I think, playing games). You've got to check it out.

Today, I found out they've put out a lot more videos. On YouTube.com you can view all their other hits. I still feel "Tell Me Why" is a stand out, but here you go...

Metered Dose Caffeine Inhaler: safe and swift...

I just found out about this amazing gadget. It saves you all the upset stomachs and potential for ulcers that result from drinking tons of coffee while it wakes you up in the same way that a cup of java or two do. Buzzaire it is called, and it saells only for $12.99. It includes 1 inhaler and 2 cartridges, each of which has 100 doses, so you will even be saving money, while you are saving your liver. How's that?

Happy April Fool's Day!

Herman from Dragonforce does a Solo - Thin Ice

This is a pretty sick guitar solo. Enjoy!
(the name of the band is Dragonforce, and the guy on the guitar is Herman -don't know his last name)

Got a Case of Neko Case!

2006 has been off to a slow start, as far as music goes (for me, at least). But the sweet voice from The New Pornographers, Neko Case, has taken care of things, pushing her new Fox Confessor Brings The Flood into stratosphere. Her fantastic voice and engaging work draw you in like few other artists (somehow Natalie Merchant and Annie DiFranco come to mind -and not necessarily because they sound alike).

To call her music country would be too limiting, but it is true that there's a definite country feel to the overall album. However, her voice lends so much more to all 12 songs that you are all of a sudden faced with an album that that spells out a happy surprise every step of the way. Though the entire album is a jewel, she seems to leave the best for last, with "Dirty Knife", "Maybe Sparrow" and "At Last" among the greatest songs I've heard in quite a while.

So far, this is the best album to have been released so far in 2006.

David Gilmour, after 22 years...

I can't believe that it passed by me (I need to slow down a bit in my life), and I didn't notice it...

Twenty days ago, after 22 years of not having recorded any solo albums, David Gilmour (Pink Floyd's lead guitar) released On An Island, a magnificent album I'm beginning to explore. I just got it on iTunes, and I am loving it!

I am a huge fan of Pink Floyd, and just as he admits on the video showing part of the recording process that's presented in the Amazon.com product page, there's a definite PF sound to it, specially kindred to the sound of the Momentary Lapse of Reason "period".

To Walmart, or not to Walmart...

What can I say? Do I love shopping at Walmart? Well, the experience I hate. The crowds make it one of the most annoying places to be at any time. But the prices, THE PRICES! What's to say that hasn't been said before? We shopped at Walmart today. Not having brought my calculator with me (I never do), I estimated we had well over $150 worth of groceries in our cart today. What would be my surprise when the girl was done ringing our items and said "$111.24". I almost yell back at her "You must be wrong!" but didn't. The fact is that I am also guilty of shopping at Walmart. Their prices are so competitive, that it wouldn't surprise me seeing some day soon a living room set selling there not for $389, but for $3.89...

Radiohead admiration post...

I realized one of the best bands there is had not received the treatment they deserved here, so I figured I'd kick off the official "Radiohead Admiration Post". :)

Just read this piece of news about them: They're working on their new album... though without a label, expecting to post songs on for download "when they are excited about it..." (whatever that means).

What is your favorite Radiohead album? No, no, no... I take that back. That is going to be a hands down winner for OK computer, isn't it? Why not... that is not just my favorite album by them, but also one of my top albums of all times. The production work is out of this world, and most of the songs did something for me that few albums have done.

Favorite songs? Would have to say:
-Motion Picture Soundtrack (Kid A)
-Creep (Pablo Honey)
-Let Down and Subterranean Homesick Alien (OK Computer)
-Fake Plastic Trees (The Bends)
-There There (Hail To The Thief)

Completa la letra de la cancion:
Rudy La Scala, "Mi Vida Eres Tu"

Sola.

Not Viagra! CABRA!

Earlier this month, I was very excited because I had ordered my new Jabra. Well: it finaly arrived. Here's what I think about it now, after almost a week of use:

Awesome, once you can get it to get along with the PPC-6700
Should I blame Microsoft for it? Some friends think I should...

I bought the Jabra BT250V to go with my PocketPC-powered Sprint PCS PPC-6700. Jabra.com indicated that this device would work with all Bluetooth-enabled devices, and after I set it up, it did... for a while. When my Jabra and my phone stopped "seeing" each other, I resorted to "rebooting" the Jabra.

Believe me: this was the weirdest reboot I've ever seen in my life, like "Clap your hands, hit the table, turn around, and bam!" That did it... for a couple of hours. Again, my Jabra and my phone wouldn't come to terms with each other.

Eventually, a couple of reboots of the phone did it, and now the two devices "happily" get along with each other. Who knows for how much longer, though?

Would I get another Jabra? I may, if I had to. But if I had to tell you about getting it for this phone, I am not so sure. Whether it is the Microsoft platform or the device it runs on, the end result is the same. Getting the Jabra to talk to my PPC-6700 phone has been one of the least plug-and-play experiences I've had in a very long time.

The pope gets an iPod

Though it's something that happened a couple of weeks ago, I thought this was worth mentioning (just found out about it).

Apple sure is striking a deep chord when even the Pope is getting an iPod! No disrespect meant, honestly. I just thought it was kinda interesting and funny at the same time.

Visited countries

I found this nice tool that helps you pick the countries you've visited from a bunch of checkboxes, and then generates a map that colors them in red.

Since I am a sucker for adding useless things to my blog, and also love travelling, here it goes:

I wish I could say it's accurate, but the truth is that I've only been to certain cities in the countries shown. If I knew so much of Canada, for instance, I'd be on the mounted police, hey! ;)

Caracas Desnuda

Hope this legislation doesn't pass!

Otherwise, insurance companies wouldn't be obligated to provide coverage for diabetes supplies, medication, equipment and education, potentially making much more costly for us diabetics to manage our condition.

My feelings towards McDonald's are super-sized!

I highly dislike McDonald's. No, wait. I really find McDonald's disgusting! I used to feel that way before I saw "Super Size Me". But the movie actually super-sized my feelings about the world's biggest chain of bad food there is.

As strongly as I feel about them, when the lawsuits against them came out I couldn't help but feel that they were a bit frivolous, by not acknowledging the level of responsibility that we all have as individuals for what we put into our bodies. But worse than the lawsuit was the way it was dismissed, which was beyond laughable, putting the burden of proof on the people who sued McD, by partly saying that they had failed to demonstrate that the food McDonald's served was unhealthy.... Just see the movie, and you will be able to decide for yourself if this makes sense or not.

At the end of the day, the disappointing thing that becomes patently obvious after you see "Super Size Me" is that the consumer's health and best interests are not typically at the top of the agenda of the food industry as a whole, and social responsibility is a concept that seems to elude them when the interests of the shareholders and Wall Street expectations start to knock on the door.

What do I think about "Super Size Me"? It is a great documentary that puts the facts about this critical issue on the table, in a balanced way (actually attempting to incorporate McDonald's comments into the movie, without success). Hopefully a heads up and a call to action: watch what you eat and don't entrust your health to the food places. They owe allegiance to their owners, not to consumers.

Why I uninstalled Google Desktop at home

Ever since I installed version 2 of Google Desktop Download in my office a few months ago, I had become a fanatic of the tool. Well, today that changed... a bit. My home computer started turning VERY slow in recent weeks and today it halted in a very scary way: I got the blue screen of death, which I don't like a bit.

I started cleaning up applications (that I don't use) and decided to give a shot to uninstalling Google Desktop, to find that the indexes it had built in my machine amounted to almost 1GB. No wonder it takes up so much juice while it's nicely sitting on your desktop.

I may keep it in the office, since I have an actual desktop there (here we got a laptop). But as far as home, I think I will forego the nice things of Google Desktop. At least until the time comes for a machine upgrade...

Sony BRAVIA - The Advert

Few times do you get a chance to see such a gorgeous ad as this European commercial for a new SONY LCD TV. I saw it several times today... It features the music of Argentinian/Swedish folk artist Jose Gonzalez and together, the music and the visuals spell out zen perfection. I guess the image should look pretty hot on a new Bravia set, but I won't find out. I am happy to rejoice myself with the ad! :)

Un-Pimp My Ride: VW videos

This weekend two different people told me about this. Since I don't watch that much TV, I hadn't heard of it. But finally I got a chance to view the videos yesterday. Here they are: VW's series of videos titled "Un-Pimp My Ride"! Don't let the guy who played the Russian cosmonaut in Armageddon that appears in them freak you out. :)

When the TV picture runs to triple digits

Been there, done that. I highly recommend doing the projector thing, as opposed to buying a large plasma or LCD set. My two cents...

Just avoid Optoma projectors, if you can. The customer service has to be one of the most inefficient things there is. They end up meeting their end of the deal, but after blood, sweat and tears.

No Viagra: Jabra!
